Description
Mute Swan, oil on canvas
Creation year
1986
For the CH 91 national exhibition, which ultimately did not take place, Fritz was commissioned to paint all of Switzerland’s 360 or so breeding bird species at the time. Because the project also had a scientific aspect, the pictures were all inscribed in English and in Switzerland’s four national languages. This painting of a mute swan is a masterful piece also because it perfectly expresses the self-confident and belligerent character of this bird.
