Description
Herd of Ostriches, watercolor on handmade vat paper
Creation year
1980s
When it’s not breeding season, ostriches often travel in large groups of up to 50 animals. It can be assumed that Fritz was challenged by this sight: In the center of the picture, a quasi continuous bar of the many stocky bodies of the birds, from which the long necks protrude at the top and the many long legs at the bottom. It almost reminds a little of the ballet in Swan Lake.
