Description
White Wagtail Nest, oil on canvas
Creation year
1980/81
White wagtails like to nest in niches and caves near bodies of water, for example under an overhanging embankment by a watercourse, as in this picture. Fritz has once again highlighted the miracle of natural reproduction. Pairs of wagtails raise around five young birds twice per spring so that perhaps three to four of them can survive the first year and in their turn nest and reproduce.
