Description
Starlings near Fällanden, oil on canvas
90 x 50 cm
Creation year
1968
In the 1960s, Fritz bought a piece of land with two old ramshackle houses just outside the nearby village of Fällanden, where we often spent our weekends. Of course, Fritz also painted there, such as these starlings on a telephone wire. Starlings gather in October, sometimes in huge flocks, to fly south together. The yellow coloring of the meadows and the sparsely leafed poplars in the background also suggest that the painting was painted sometime in autumn.
