Pelicans are among the largest birds capable of flight. They fish together in large groups, a type of coordination that is extremely rare among birds. Typical and clearly visible in the charcoal drawing is the skin pouch on the lower beak, which is used like a landing net when fishing. The strong, stocky body, the long curved neck, the huge beak, with a few charcoal strokes Fritz shows us everything and exactly what makes this strange bird special.
