Description
King Penguins of the 20th Century, watercolor on handmade paper
49 x 33 cm
From the collection Nideröst
Creation year
1960s
This brilliant little piece, created with a charcoal pencil and watercolor, has the character of a penguin study. The differing orientation of the birds shows the nuanced coloration of their plumage: the well-fed bellies are white, the backs are bluish grey. Only the orange areas on their necks, beaks and cheeks make the picture appear colorful. Why does it say 20th century? Since we don’t know, it will remain the artist’s secret.
