Description
Three Tawny Owls Under a Full Moon, mosaic
80 x 70 cm
Creation year
early 1970s
In the 1970s, Fritz created a mosaic for a school building in Nürensdorf. It consists of four sections featuring native animals. This section shows three young tawny owls sitting on a branch. Owls and the full moon are a recurring combination in Fritz’s work, reflecting the fact that owls are nocturnal hunters. As a similar oil painting by Fritz exists, we assume that this served as a draft and template for the mosaic.
To get an impression of the monumental work, the mosaic is shown here in its entirety.
