Ducks at the Eigental Pond

Fritz loved mallards and often painted them. Perhaps because the colors of the female and male birds complement each other so nicely? Or because ducks populate the most beautiful landscapes in the Swiss Mittelland, namely the areas surrounding natural bodies of water? The Eigentalweiher near Birchwil, close to where Fritz had a country studio in the 1970s, is a prime example of this. Fritz often painted pictures of ducks there, such as this fantastic piece of art.
