The jay is probably the most brightly colored of all corvids. It waits until the trees have fully developed their foliage in spring before laying its eggs, so that the nestlings are better protected. Given these conditions, it is only logical that a particularly colorful picture has emerged here: the fresh green of the forest provides a dense, vivid background, while the strikingly colored bird family in the center of the picture creates a strong visual contrast.
