Probably the earliest picture in the collection of the Atelier Fritz Hug is this self-portrait from the 1940s: a serious-looking, self-confident young man looks directly into the eyes of the viewer. Fritz’s small-format work is reminiscent of portraits by Ferdinand Hodler, as this great Swiss artist painted around 1900.
