Description
Two Squirrels—No, Actually There Are Three! Enhanced lithograph on handmade paper
48 x 34 cm
From the Collection of the Ernst-Wildi-Rohr-Stiftung
Creation year
1960s
In the 1960s, Fritz enhanced several lithographs by hand with small, often humorous additions—always the number 99 of a numbered edition and always for the same client, Ernst Wildi-Rohr, who must have been a great admirer and likely also a friend of Fritz’s. Unfortunately, we don’t know the details of this story. In this lithograph of two squirrels—designed in the style of a scientific illustration—a third animal has sneaked into the scene from behind and seems to be saying, “Hey, I wanted to be in this picture too!”
