How did the story of these enhanced lithographs begin? We don’t know. Perhaps Ernst Wildi-Rohr saw the picture at my father’s house and found the motif somewhat sad. Spontaneous as Fritz was, he drew a second baby rabbit and adapted the title of the work. And Wildi-Rohr was so delighted that he agreed to a sort of subscription with Fritz: From then on, Wildi-Rohr bought number 99 of each lithograph’s edition, and Fritz enhanced the work with a small sketch each time. That’s how it could have been, or could it not?
