Description
King Penguins of the 20th Century, watercolor on handmade paper
49 x 33 cm
From the collection Nideröst
Creation year
1960s
This brilliant little work, created with a charcoal pencil and watercolor, has the character of a penguin study. The different orientation of the birds shows the differentiated coloration of their plumage: the well-fed bellies are white, the backs are bluish grey. Only the orange areas on the neck, beak and cheeks of the birds make the picture appear colorful. Why does it say 20th century? Since we don’t know, it will probably remain the artist’s secret.
