Description
Flatback Sea Turtle, oil on canvas
100 x 40 cm
Creation year
1969
First exhibited at the Helmhaus Zurich in the 1970 WWF Exhibition
This pretty Australian, as her name suggests a sea turtle with a rather flat body, has been painted from an unusual perspective, namely directly from the front, lying on a beach. This gives the picture a humorous touch, but it is also easy to see how difficult it must be for the animal to move around on land. The WWF lettering indicates that the species as such is endangered and also that half of the proceeds from the sale of the painting went to the WWF.
