Description
Cobra, oil on canvas
Creation year
1960s
Fritz has painted or drawn very few snakes. This cobra, a spectacled snake from Asia, is one of the exceptions. The animal feels threatened, which is why it has reared up and spread its neck shield. The picture is painted in Fritz’s style of the 1960s, whereby the background here does not simply show the white primed canvas, but suggests a sandy or rocky environment.
