Description
Water Frog Study, oil on canvas
Creation year
early 1970s
The picture can be viewed in two different ways. On the one hand, you can see the banks of a pond in which five water frogs are romping about. On the other hand, the picture can also be read as a study of the water frog’s movements: How the frog sits calmly, how it tenses its body, ready to jump, how it leaps or how it crawls, the beauty of this pond dweller is expressed in each case. This picture is also painted on a colored canvas, as Fritz often did in the early 1970s.
