Fritz painted native animals more often than exotic ones. However, a major exception were big cats, which he depicted frequently in oil paintings, drawings and lithographs. On the one hand, he enjoyed painting cats and on the other, his cat pictures were very popular with his fan community. In his paintings, tigers usually appear with the confidence of the largest and strongest feline predator. This lithograph is different. The still young and rather slender cat seems to be looking at something that makes it feel insecure or at least thoughtful.
