Description
Otter “La Loutre”, oil on canvas
Creation year
1979
The otter had a bad reputation as a “fish predator”, which is why it was frequently hunted and subsequently almost extinct. Our polluted waters finally wiped out the rest of the population. As many rivers and streams are much cleaner again, the now strictly protected animal has been successfully reintroduced. In this well-done portrait, the wild hunter and predator looks more like a cuddly toy thanks to its beady eyes and thick, soft fur.
