Paul Weilenmann was the zoo director in Zurich, a vet and a good friend of Fritz. More than once it happened that a mother animal did not accept a young, which is why the baby animal had to be raised by humans. The Weilenmanns once had two snow leopard cubs at their home, which Fritz visited often and sketched. There are oil paintings of these leopard cubs, lithographs and at least this one charcoal sketch, which Richard Spira owned and later donated to Atelier Fritz Hug.
