Jaguars “Looking into Life”

Fritz was not religious in the ecclesiastical sense, but he was deeply impressed by the diversity and beauty of nature and firmly believed in a Creator God. Several times, when he was particularly satisfied with his depiction of a part of this very creation, he wrote the sentence “Credo in unum Deum” on the canvas to express his attachment to the creature and to life in general. This picture of a mother jaguar with her two young seemed to him to be suitable for this.
