Description
Requiem for a Fox, oil on canvas
Creation year
November 1967
In the 1960s, rabies was on the rise in Switzerland. The fox was identified as the main culprit and was almost extinct as a result. The foxes were gassed in their burrows and at the same time the badger population was also almost completely wiped out – human nature management at its best. Today, fortunately, the populations have recovered. Fritz loved foxes and dedicated numerous works to them in all painting techniques.
