Young cheetahs are endangered creatures because their mother is not strong enough to defend them against attacks by leopards, lions or spotted hyenas, their mortality rate during their first year of life is high. Fritz has painted and drawn these fine creatures several times, and this picture stands out for its particular quality. In the late 1980s, Fritz painted mainly on raw canvas, creating some of his best images of cats of prey.
