Sometimes Fritz painted oil paintings in the great outdoors, mainly landscapes or sometimes at the zoo. However, most of his oil paintings were created in his studio, such as this picture of a striding cheetah. However, Fritz had sketched this very cheetah with charcoal pencil and watercolor on paper during a trip to East Africa in Nairobi National Park. The sketch, a work of art in its own right, then served him as a source for this oil painting.
