Description
Racoon, oil on canvas
Creation year
1978
The raccoon originally comes from North America, but has spread widely in Europe. In the 1940s, a few specimens escaped from German fur farms, and today hundreds of thousands of these clever little bears live in Western Europe. They have been recorded in Switzerland since 1978 and can now be found in many Swiss cantons. What is interesting about the picture is that Fritz has almost exclusively used different shades of brown on the canvas. Only the facial area and the inside of the ears are slightly accentuated in black or blue.
