In this painting you can see two things: on the one hand a polar bear mother warming and protecting her sleeping cub, on the other hand an almost abstract ornament of white and various other colors, which is formed by the shaggy fur of the bears. The ornament covers almost the entire canvas. Apart from a very small gray-blue background, it is only the bears’ eyes and noses that make the picture appear figurative again.
