The mongoose lemur is acutely threatened with extinction. Its small range in north-western Madagascar is constantly being reduced and fragmented by deforestation. In addition, it is still hunted for meat. Perhaps it was Fritz’s intention to dedicate a memorial to this vanishing species with this picture.
