Description
Aye-Aye, watercolor on handmade vat paper
Creation year
1980
The aye-aye, the largest nocturnal lemur species, is not a model for cuddly stuffed animals. However, it is easy to see where the makers of the horror comedy Gremlins got their ideas from. With its glowing eyes and long claws, the animal looks simply terrifying. And despite all this, the picture shows how masterfully Fritz used charcoal pencil and watercolor.
