Zurich Limmatquai

The picture shows the Limmatquai with a view of the Hechtplatz Theater and the Haus zum Raben. In the background, on the left, you can see part of the Wasserkirche, and in the center, the towers of the Grossmünster. Although the cars at the roadside are depicted only as blurry shapes, they are still easily recognizable as 1940s models with their rounded forms. The color scheme suggests that the evening sun is casting intense light on the scene from the west. The painting is executed in an expressive style with rather rough brushstrokes, not atypical for Fritz’s cityscapes from that period.
