Description
Zurich Utoquai, oil on canvas
Creation year
1940s
The picture shows Zurich’s Utoquai, a promenade on the banks of the shores of lake Zurich in late fall. The trees still have their last autumn leaves, but the first snow is already on the ground. The Fraumünster and St. Peter’s Church can be seen in the background. Fritz painted this work in the 1940s in the style of early Impressionism. It is somewhat reminiscent of older works by Alfred Sisley or Camille Pissarro, two painters whom Fritz greatly admired throughout his life.
