Description
Zurich, Hans Waldmann Monument, oil on canvas
Creation year
1940s
In the 1940s and 50s Fritz tried his hand at painting cityscapes. He also had some success with it: As early as 1942, he was able to exhibit his cityscapes in the then renowned Zurich gallery of Leon Bollag. This painting of the Münsterbrücke and the Hans Waldmann Monument depicts a typical, gray December day in Zurich. This dating results from the pot collection of the Salvation Army in the center of the painting, which takes place in the pre-Christmas period.
