Romainmôtier Collegiate Church is considered one of the oldest Romanesque buildings in Switzerland. It was built around the year 1000 for a former Benedictine monastery, which was disbanded in the 16th century. In the 1980s, Fritz often traveled through the Jura region, where he painted striking buildings and townscapes. The overcast sky and the sandstone-colored building convey a rather gloomy impression, which is somewhat lightened by a swarm of eagerly hunting barn swallows.
