Description
À Mogador, oil on cardboard
53 x 39 cm
From the collection Nideröst
Creation year
1940s
The painting depicts a bay with a beach on the Moroccan island of Mogador. Fritz must have visited there during his trip to southern France and the Maghreb in the 1940s. At that time, Fritz was still searching for his own artistic language and therefore frequently experimented with different painting styles. In this work, the influence of Paul Cézanne is clearly evident; in the 1880s, Cézanne frequently created landscapes using a very similar color palette.
