Wallcreeper at the Matterhorn

Mauerläufer am Matterhorn web

Description

Wallcreeper at the Matterhorn, oil on canvas

100 x 50 cm

Creation year

1970s

The picture shows the Matterhorn on the left and the Dent Blanche on the right, connected by a mountain ridge. The sky is cloudy, and the colors of the vegetation in the foreground are already autumnal. A wallcreeper flies through the scene. These magnificently colored birds are better known to mountaineers than to ornithologists because they live and breed on rock faces in the high mountains. Fritz has created numerous pictures of the Matterhorn; this is one of nine that we have in our photographic archive.
