Description
Gold Finch in the Blenio Valley, oil on canvas
100 x 40 cm
Creation year
1977
In the 1970s, Fritz often found peace and quiet in the Blenio Valley, where he stayed with friends and painted every day. Mostly, he painted the striking churches or the typical villages and clusters of houses in the region. This picture, however, shows a wide view of the valley with almost no traces of human civilization. Only a small mountain road is faintly visible on the right of the picture. A goldfinch flies through the scene, adding the only bright splashes of color to the already autumnal landscape.
