Le Palombe die Negrentino, oil on canvas

Fritz discovered the Blenio Valley for himself in the 1970s. He liked the peace and quiet and the rather barren landscape of a Ticino mountain valley. One motif he painted there particularly often was the Negrentino church. He was fascinated by the building, partly because of its isolated location in the beautiful landscape, and partly because of the “patchwork” architecture of the church, which has been repeatedly rebuilt and enlarged over the centuries. And there are almost always birds involved, in this case pigeons, when Fritz depicted the Negrentino church.
