This idyllic composition shows the village of Schwellbrunn looking southeast, with the majestic peak of the Säntis in the background. The work is somewhat reminiscent of Johannes Zülle’s peasant style painting, which is due in part to the typical colors of the Appenzell landscape and in part to the picturesque village itself, which was voted the most beautiful village in Switzerland by Swiss television viewers in 2017.
