Description
Zermatt and the Matterhorn, oil on canvas
Creation year
1966
Josef and Franz Seiler, two hoteliers of a hotel dynasty with several houses in the village of Zermatt, were early and great admirers of Fritz’s works. For several years, therefore, we were able to spend vacations in some of the best houses in the town while Fritz painted the surroundings, and in the end paid the hotel bill with one of the newly created paintings.
On this picture Fritz wrote: It was a mild spring day, on the rowan tree in front of the (hotel) Victoria sat seven waxwings.
