Description
Hedgehog Life, lithograph on handmade paper
38 x 53 cm
Creation year
1986
Hedgehogs are solitary animals; the mother hedgehog only lives with her young for a few months during the rearing period. Of the usually four to five young, perhaps two survive the first winter. In this lithograph, Fritz has depicted the brief period when mother and young are together. He has almost exclusively used different shades of brown, with very little dark blue appearing in the shadows of the bodies as a contrast.
