Before Fritz had a family, he often traveled to the south of Europe or the north of Africa to paint. This early work from the late 1940s shows a herd of goats in Calabria. During this time, Fritz experimented with different painting styles. In this strongly graphic oil painting, he explored the boundaries of figurative painting to a great extent.
