Description
Der Ochsen und die Geissen, oil on canvas
Creation year
1986
The title of this painting is a play on words: Ochsen (Engl. oxen) is the name of the striking peak in the background, while the goats (German Geissen) virtually speak for themselves. In the 1980s, a late period in his career, Fritz often traveled to Schwefelbergbad in the Bernese Oberland, where he created some magnificent oil paintings on location. With the mountain landscape and the theme of motherhood, Fritz has combined two motifs here that have occupied him throughout his artistic life.
