Dairy Sheep with two Lambs

Sheep have served humans for more than 8000 years and are among the earliest domestic animals. Fritz did not paint many pictures of sheep; this milk sheep with two lambs was a commissioned work used for a publication by a sheep breeders’ association. The result is a very dense picture, both the sheepskins and the lush summer meadow in the background appear to the eye almost like a tapestry. And once again, Fritz devoted himself to the theme of motherhood.
