Description
Chamois Study, oil on canvas
Creation year
1985 – 1988
Although the painter placed the chamois in a rocky landscape, the painting does not depict a herd of chamois. Rather, the artist was interested in drawing and depicting the animals of different ages as individuals in poses typical of them, which is why he called the painting “chamois study”. The sky and the rocky ground form a strong color contrast to the reddish brown of the animals, which further emphasizes the scientific character of the picture.
