Art can sometimes consist of stopping at the right moment. It is quite possible that Fritz wanted to produce a charcoal drawing of a complete ibex with this picture. Perhaps he wanted to color it later with watercolors. And then, after just a few strokes, the work seemed so accomplished that he simply left it at that. Never really finished, but nevertheless an almost perfect depiction of a magnificent ibex.
