After Summer

While Fritz painted flowers, he usually hid an animal – such as a bird or an insect – in the painting. But not so here. This is a pure flower painting, asters in late summer or early fall. Only some of the flowers are still in full bloom, others have already wilted. The picture is also symbolic of the cycle of nature, in which everything is merely passing.
